Clear aligners are the most revolutionary new method of straightening crooked teeth, correcting malocclusions (i.e., poor bite), and making teeth more functional.
FDA-approved Invisalign® has been straightening teeth and correcting bites discreetly and beautifully since 1999. More than 12 million smiles worldwide have benefited from Invisalign.
Instead of using metal or acrylic brackets and wires to move teeth, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligner trays custom-molded to your teeth. The aligners are graduated to gently move your teeth into improved alignment. Each tray gets closer and closer to your teeth’s final position.
The most apparent advantage of clear aligners is their clarity; Invisalign trays are made of nearly invisible, crystal clear composite material called SmartTrack®. The SmartTrack aligners are custom-molded to your teeth and custom-cut to match your gum line. Advantages include:
Invisalign even features Smart Attachments, used to fix some of the most advanced orthodontic problems.
Clear aligners are designed based on your current tooth pattern and the goal position set by Dr. Bernuy. Every week or two, you switch to a new set of aligners that is slightly closer to your goal position until your teeth are perfectly aligned.
You need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours every day until you complete treatment. You then switch to a nightly retainer to maintain your results.
To keep the SmartTrack material crystal clear, remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water. Brush your aligners with an Invisalign cleanser before reinserting them, and be sure to keep aligners in their case when not in use to protect them from breakage.
Invisalign Teen® features blue indicator dots that help teenagers (and adults) keep track of when to switch to a new aligner tray.
