As many of us have finally reached adulthood, we may begin to be more alert of our physical appearance. Everyone has their concerns that they would like addressed about their body or their face, and for some of us, it is our teeth. But being that we’re out of the adolescent stage of our lives, and metal braces are much less welcomed at this point in our life, we do find ourselves with a few different options. Invisalign and other brands of clear aligners have proven to be a great alternative for adults that wish to straighten their teeth. But for some of us this type of alignment process may not be ideal, perhaps we’re forgetful, or perhaps we don’t trust ourselves. Thanks to advancements in technology now we have what is called Incognito Braces.
What Are Incognito Braces?
Incognito Braces are basically exactly what they sound like. It is a set of “train tracks” that would most normally be found on the outside of our teeth, put on the inside of your teeth. So, what you see when looking at someone with Incognito Braces is a normal set of teeth. However, if they open their mouth and tilt their head down a little bit, you may be able to see the train tracks that lie on the inside.
To begin with the installment process, your teeth must be sanded down in order to create a clear, non-slip surface for the incoming braces. After the sanding is done, then the braces are used on the inside of your teeth to create brackets and wires that are highly malleable and can move rather quickly. The quickness of the process is a big point of appeal from many, but the braces do need to stay inside of your mouth for a year or more in order to get your teeth used to being in their new position.
The alignment process is fast and extremely effective. However, in order to truly know if Incognito Braces are right for you, it is so important to contact your local dentist.
